Climavent Heat and Moisture Exchangers (HME filters) contain a heat and moisture exchange medium. They are used to warm and humidify the patient’s inspired gases. The HME media retains some of the patients exhaled heat and moisture using that to passively warm and humidify the air inspired in the next breath. They are normally positioned at the patient end of a breathing system.
Neonatal HME is a heat and moisture exchanger designed to replicate the functions of the body’s upper airway by effectively warming and moistening the air to be inhaled by the patient.
