Flexicare strengthens its Welsh connections
through locally generated hydropower
22nd April 2026
At Flexicare, we have entered into an energy agreement with Hydro Wales to supply electricity linked to hydroelectric generation in North Wales for our South Wales headquarters.
This agreement connects our operations to renewable power generated by a long-established Welsh hydro scheme, bringing together a business with deep roots in Wales and energy produced from infrastructure shaped by the country’s industrial and engineering heritage.
The decision forms part of our evolving Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda, building on our achievement of the EcoVadis Committed badge and representing a practical step towards reducing operational emissions and supporting our longer-term ambition and net zero targets. By securing renewable electricity for our UK operations, we are taking an incremental approach to decarbonisation that balances environmental responsibility with operational resilience.
For us, this decision reflects a disciplined, long-term approach to how we operate. The peer-to-peer agreement establishes a direct, transparent relationship with a Welsh energy provider, strengthening accountability in energy sourcing while supporting local enterprise. It supports responsible growth while aligning our energy supply with the same principles that underpin our wider business: strong governance, measured decision-making, and accountability to people, communities and the environment.
The hydropower supplied through Hydro Wales is generated from restored sites originally built to power slate mining operations in north-west Wales. Today, these schemes can export surplus renewable electricity into local networks, supporting Welsh businesses and communities.
Marc Davies, Chief Operating Officer at Flexicare, said:
“As a business proudly headquartered in Wales, it matters to us how we operate and who we partner with. This agreement is a practical step that reflects our responsibility as a global medical device company, while reinforcing our longstanding connection to Wales.
Choosing energy linked to local hydro generation supports how we make long-term decisions: measured, responsible, and grounded in doing what is right, not just what is required.”
